How to Simplify Your Life and Step Into Your Purpose | Faith-Based Simplicity Challenge
Many Christian women feel overwhelmed trying to balance purpose, peace, and productivity. This post breaks down simple, faith-based steps to simplify your life, create margin, and make space for God to move.
If you feel like there’s never enough time, it’s not because you’re failing. It’s because your life is too full of things God never asked you to carry. Creating margin isn’t about doing less for the sake of it; it’s about making space for what matters most so you can finally walk in your God-given purpose with peace and clarity.
In this episode, I’m sharing the story behind The Simplicity Project—and the powerful lessons I learned about slowing down, releasing overwhelm, and letting God lead every part of your life.

Why I Brought Back The Simplicity Project
I first wrote The Simplicity Project back in 2014, but God wasn’t done with it yet.
After years of messages from women feeling burned out, overextended, and disconnected from their purpose, I knew it was time to bring it back.
This new edition has been completely refreshed with updated stories, reflection prompts, and lessons I’ve learned along the way. The heart of the message is still the same: simplicity creates margin, and margin is where God moves.
If you’ve been craving peace, purpose, and more time for what matters, this book will help you find it.
When I Realized It Was Time to Simplify
In 2013, my life looked great on paper—happy marriage, homeschooling our kids, and building a life I loved. But inside, I knew I was missing something.
I wasn’t unhappy; I was just stretched too thin. Our schedule was too full, our house too cluttered, and our finances too tight. And while everything looked fine from the outside, I could feel that God was calling me to something deeper.
So, I started writing. I made a list of what I wanted my life to look like—spiritually, relationally, financially, and physically. That’s when God gave me the vision for The Simplicity Project.
Three Simple Secrets That Changed My Life
1. You don’t have to be perfect to make progress
Perfectionism keeps so many of us stuck. You don’t need the perfect home, routine, or planner before you begin—you just need to start.
Even fifteen minutes a day can make a difference. Clean one space. Take a short walk. Pray before you look at your phone. Small, faithful steps lead to peace.
2. You don’t need an all-or-nothing reset
Massive overhauls rarely last because they don’t address the why behind the chaos. True change happens through small, consistent decisions.
Start with one area—your budget, your home, or your time—and give it attention each day. As you simplify one area, you’ll find freedom spilling into the others.
3. You don’t need to know the full plan
When I simplified my life, I had no idea what God was setting in motion. That simple act of obedience led to creating planners, starting a podcast, and building a business that helps other women live on purpose.
Clarity doesn’t come before obedience—it comes because of it. You just have to say yes to the next step.
How Simplicity Makes Space for God to Move
When you clear clutter—physically, mentally, and spiritually—you make room for God to move.
If your schedule is too packed or your home too chaotic, it’s hard to hear His voice. But when you create margin, peace and purpose start to return.
There are miracles in the margin. When you make space, God fills it—with clarity, creativity, and calling.
How to Start Simplifying Today
You don’t need to overhaul everything. Just begin where you are.
Here are a few easy places to start:
Declutter one drawer or one digital folder.
Say no to one thing that drains you.
Replace ten minutes of scrolling with prayer or journaling.
These small acts create room for big miracles.
